Olim (New Immigrants)

Home / Olim (New Immigrants)

King David, in his psalms, sang about “the blessed ones that come up on the mountains of Israel.” Since then, the word “rising” applies to all Olim returning to the land of their ancestors. They will “spiritually” rise, doing the will of the Creator. The prophets have talked about this many times.

Therefore say: “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will gather you from the nations and bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you back the land of Israel again.” Ezekiel 11:17

“I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.” Jeremiah 29:14

For Jewish people returning to Israel, the immigration process is quite complicated, and not just in economic terms. The Olim expend a lot of mental and spiritual strength to “overcome” the culture shock to understand the new realities of life in Israel. The local congregation is trying to serve the new immigrants (Olim Chadashim in Hebrew) with humanitarian aid, kitchen supplies, and bedding. We also organize meetings with professionals from the banking and insurance companies, lawyers, and financial management specialists, as well as psychologists. We also offer Hebrew lessons for them. Of course, immigrants, for the most part, are people who are far from “the heritage of Israel.” Many of them grew up in an atheistic environment, and for this reason, we invite them to the festive events the congregation has organized. Also was decided to create an “Aleph Club” – program capable of disclosing the plan of God, in the context of the Messianic teaching in the Torah, considering the cultural aspects of evangelism in Israel. Relying on facts from popular culture, and using the principles of apologetics, the participants of the “Aleph Club” in Haifa set off on a virtual journey through the history of the Jewish people, from the book of Genesis to the present day.
